Interns and Volunteers

AIDA is seeking volunteers and interns. Positions are available in: Oakland, CA; Mexico City; San Jose, Costa Rica; and Bogota, Colombia. Past interns and volunteers have included attorneys, graduate and undergraduate students in various disciplines, retirees, scientists, and professionals making career transitions. Knowledge of intermediate Spanish and English is required.

Working with AIDA, candidates receive exposure to the operations of the non-profit legal community and international environmental work in Latin American nations. AIDA will accommodate the individual's skills and interests, selecting appropriate projects involving legal work, writing, research, design, web development, or data analysis depending on the qualifications of the applicant. Some administrative tasks may be required.

Internships require a minimum 10 hour/week commitment for at least three months during the school year, and full-time work for eight or more weeks during the summer. A small stipend is provided for law-clerks during the summer, but most interns receive no compensation.

Volunteers can work from our offices or elsewhere and should be willing to commit on average three hours per week.
